Welcome to the Rikoten, everyone. At Waseda University's Faculty of Science and Engineering, we emphasize practical experiments and fieldwork in real-world contexts. We believe that “hands-on learning”—touching, moving, and experiencing—, in other words, the practical application of scholarship, is essential. This year's Rikoten features stage presentations, along with unique experiential programs distinctive to our faculty. We will also offer campus and laboratory tours, as well as counseling sessions on entrance examinations and academic matters for prospective students. Lectures by university faculty are also scheduled. “GEAR” is the theme of this year's Rikoten. We believe gears represent the origin of manufacturing and experience, continuously supporting innovation from the past through the present and into the future. We hope that everyone, from children to adults, will thoroughly enjoy Rikoten and experience it as a place that connects the present with the future.

Thank you very much for visiting the 72nd Rikoten today. The entire organizing committee is truly delighted that this exhibition, with its long history, can be held once again this year. We, the committee members of Rikoten, have worked toward creating a “Future School Festival” where visitors can discover dreams and hopes for the future and find inspiration for further advancements in science and technology. We have done this by incorporating cutting-edge technologies and diverse programs while conveying the fascination and depth of science. This year's theme, 'GEAR', symbolizes our aspirations. It embodies our hope that the individual projects and the unique personalities of each participant will gear together, just like gears, harmonizing to connect us to the future. We sincerely hope this festival stimulates your curiosity and serves as a place for new learning and discoveries.
